Ear wax is produced by glands in the ear canal. It’s purpose is to trap dust and other small particles to prevent them from reaching, and potentially damaging, the eardrum.
The quantity of ear wax produced varies greatly from person to person, and for some the wax does not come out of the ear naturally and forms a blockage or plug that might need removing. This blockage can cause hearing loss, irritation and pain.
If you book a free hearing test, we will also check your ears for excess ear wax, alternatively, if you are confident that you require ear wax removal, you can request an ear wax removal appointment without a hearing test.
