Check your hearing health

Recent research reports that one in five people in the UK aged 12 and older experience hearing loss severe enough to hinder communication. If you think you have hearing loss or know a loved one who does, booking a hearing test is always a good first step towards getting the help you need. Hearing tests are free of charge at Allerton Hearing.

Communication is critical in life. Your job and social interactions are all more rewarding when you can communicate confidently – and hearing is vital to that. During your hearing test we don’t just test your ability to hear, we will also talk to you in order to understand your lifestyle so that we can recommend the best course of action and if required, hearing aid solution.

Free hearing tests

Our hearing tests are free of charge and can be carried out at our fully equipped clinics, or if you prefer, a private home visit can be booked for a small additional fee.

We are also here to answer any questions you have and to address any of your concerns. We will always offer you professional and independent advice.

Available for everyone, free of charge

All hearing tests at Allerton Hearing are free of charge for everyone over the age of 18, and there’s no need for a GP referral. Simply book an appointment to talk to our fully qualified audiologists if you are having difficulty hearing, or are worried about hearing loss.

We will undertake a comprehensive hearing test, talk to you about what the results mean, and what options you have. There is no obligation to make any purchase, but we will be able to offer you our recommendations and provide you with hearing aids, if that’s what you need.

What to expect

During our free hearing tests we will ask you to wear a pair of headphones so that we can measure your ability to hear varying sounds in a controlled environment. We will play increasingly quiet sounds and ask you to press a button every time you hear them – this will tell us the quietest sound you are able to hear.

We will also check on the overall health of your ears and then discuss the results with you, offering our support and professional advice. We will also record the results, so that in the event of a revisit, we can keep a track of any changes to your hearing ability over time.
